It's simple to see the canyon from the rim, but getting to the Colorado River at the bottom takes a hard trek or rafting expedition with a permit or guide. Grand Canyon West offers guided one-day whitewater rafting down the canyon.
What a hole.
You can buy a $35, 7-day pass at a park entrance station, or use your America the Beautiful or other interagency annual pass to get into the national park. Grand Canyon West is not part of the national park and has its own fees.

Southwest everything are spread out, therefore there are no ride-share services to or from the park. Grand Canyon West, North Rim, and South Rim are many hours from major towns. Rent a vehicle and arrange your trip to avoid driving all day.
There s no Uber.
Rangers help heat-exhausted trekkers daily in July. Hike smartly and avoid midday weather with minimal shade. Summer temperatures in the interior canyon exceed 100°F, despite tolerable rim temperatures.
Don t become a statistic.
Take the free park shuttle from the Grand Canyon Visitor Centre & IMAX in Tusayan outside the South Entrance Station to the Grand Canyon Visitor Centre and Theatre in Grand Canyon Village to avoid parking hassles.
Ditch the car.
Consuming a large amount of water is essential in order to survive in the dry and scorching environment of the desert. When you go out on the trails, be sure to have at least two litres of water with you for each individual.
Bottoms up!
The act of walking off the track causes damage to the delicate plants that grow in the desert, erodes the terrain, and may lead to harmful drop-offs. Take the roughly 600 miles of trails that are available in the park.
